Chromebooks are laptops that are optimized for getting work done using the internet. Whether you are a student, teacher, or a business professional, knowing how to use and take good care of your Chromebook is always a good idea.
Here are some tips for Chromebook users:
- Setup your Gmail on your Chromebook as well as your phone and ipad so that you are always up-to-date on meetings and deadlines. If you are a parent to a student who uses a Chromebook for school, this can help you and your child keep up with class work. Simply add the assignments to your Google calendar and turn on notifications.
- If you have an Android phone or tablet, go to your Chromebook’s ‘connected devices’ section and connect your compatible devices. This will help you have a smooth experience across all of your devices and keep you up-to-date with your text messaging and other multi-device applications.
- Turn frequently visited websites into apps that you can click on from your home screen. Do this by clicking the 3 button menu in the top right corner of your internet browser — click on ‘more tools’ — then click ‘create shortcut’, finally type in a name for the application and be sure to click ‘open as window’.
- Swipe down on the touchpad with three fingers to see all of the apps you currently have open and select which one to focus on next.
- Make sure to keep food and drinks away from your laptop (especially for kids) and always carry your laptop with two hands for safety.
